History

In 1999, Sub Sea Systems purchased the rights to produce the previously branded SunKat electric catamaran. The Company applied its extensive knowledge of marine vessel construction (from its history building submarines in the1980’s) to redesign and rebrand the product as “FunCat”.

In a constant effort to improve the product, the FunCat received another makeover in 2013. This included: new wiring and control systems, custom-made motors, grained aluminum frames, a new hull design, a new logo, a number of aesthetic finishes, and a full line of accessories.

With a growing trend for eco-friendly products, a solar panel kit was introduced alongside highly efficient lithium-ion batteries. The solar kit became such a popular accessory, that Sub Sea Systems responded to the market demand by transitioning all newly constructed boats to the “solar” model. And along with that evolution came a new name– SolarCat!

We are confident the SolarCat personal catamaran fits with today’s consumers and the market demand for environmentally friendly products.
